Harper was born and raised in Southern New Jersey and began painting at the age of 4 in the home studio of a local Bridgeton artist. He continued until age 18 when he left behind the arts to pursue college, graduate school, and have a career in the U.S. Army as a Judge Advocate General Corp’s.
Upon retirement from the Army, he returned to South Jersey and began painting again. Harper works primarily in acrylics, attempting to capture the subtle beauty of the local landscape, flora, and fauna. More recently, he has painted interior scenes, exhibiting his fascination with shadows, real and perceived.
