Jocelyne Prince

Jocelyne Prince is an artist working with the material and conceptual properties of glass. She is immersed in the history of glass technology—especially production methods that sit between machine and hand made. Her process explores how actions can be recorded through matter (most often, molten glass or light). Transparency, optical phenomena, and projection are key tools that translate her poetic and haptic gestures into performative events or objects that highlight ephemeral occurrences.

Prince earned her B.F.A. from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and an M.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design. She exhibits her work in museums and alternative venues across North America, Asia and Europe. She is a 2025 USA Artist Fellow and a recipient of a 2024-25 Fulbright Scholar Fellowship. She has also been awarded the Frazier Award for Excellence in Teaching and a George A. and Eliza Gardner Howard Foundation Fellowship. Prince is a full-time member of the faculty in Rhode Island School of Design’s Glass Department. She lives and works in Providence, Rhode Island.
