At the Museum of American Glass, there are year-round opportunities for volunteers to help us share information with the public about glass and glass making in the United States.
Job Position: Front Desk
Location: Museum of American Glass
Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to engage artists and audiences in an evolving exploration of creativity through the interpretation of collections and exhibitions; education initiative and culturally diverse public programs; and opportunities for artists. The Museum of American Glass at WheatonArts collects, preserves, and interprets the range of glass made in the United States with a special focus on New Jersey.
Front Desk volunteers provide a welcoming atmosphere for all museum visitors and to act as a source of information and security during their shift. They are responsible for greeting museum visitors; maintaining a watchful eye over the displays in the lobby; counting visitors and obtaining demographic information; being aware of WheatonArts programming to provide visitors with accurate information, and helping staff open or close the museum.
Volunteers have the opportunity to contribute to the daily operations of the museum, gain customer service experience, have access to the museum’s resources, and learn about American glass. Front Desk volunteers work one regularly scheduled four-hour shift per week, for a minimum of three months. Shifts are Saturday and Sunday 9:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.-5:15 p.m.
