Avishai Greis is an Israeli born sculptor and jewelry manufacturer, who immigrated to the US at the age of 25. He studied welding and jewelry making in Israel. He began his career in Philadelphia with AION Mfg Co., Inc. Milton Aion became his mentor and supported his development as a master craftsman, jeweller, and casting expert in the jewelry business. They became business partners in 1979.

Avi’s creative side took a turn in recent years when he was commissioned to cast a pear paper weight. He selected a real fruit and employed a process he has been using for 45 years called “lost Wax” casting. He quickly learned that any fruit or vegetable could be cast. Using bronze, brass, and copper, Avi embarked on a casting frenzy and Botanic Bronze was born.
The organic nature of the pieces created are remarkable.
