Cannon’s etching process has not changed in hundreds of years. Her plates are done totally by hand. Once the image is drawn on the zinc or copper plate, it is etched into the metal with acid. When the image is finished, the plate is hand inked and rolled through the press transferring the image onto cotton paper. Then it is Hand Pulled from the plate and placed in a drying rack to be signed, numbered, and maybe colored for show.
