Maria Sparre-Petersen

A former student of cultural anthropology, Maria Sparre-Petersen sustains an interest in the relationships between culture and nature, the public and the private realms. The interaction between human beings and the surrounding environment informs her work.

“I search for answers to philosophical and ethical questions, realizing that I probably will not find answers but, rather, new land worth investigating, and new questions that will spark my curiosity….I work in areas both within cities and out in nature as well as on sites that define a threshold between the two. Glass is my material. I wish to continue exploring the endless possibilities it offers and let it help me shape my ideas.”
