I’m a self-taught enamellist. I picked up a torch seven years ago and have been creating jewelry with my pieces ever since! Enamel is powdered glass, which is sifted onto a piece of copper and torch fired. The heat fuses the powder to the metal and turns it back into glass. My favorite enamel technique is sgraffito, which is drawing designs and patterns into the enamel before it is fired.

I picked up another technique along the way, which is called Flame Painted Copper. It is painting patterns onto copper with a micro torch, and as the copper heats and cools, it turns various beautiful colors naturally.
