As a retiree, I thought it important to have activities that would keep me thinking critically and also provide some exercise for my body. I stumbled upon woodworking through a lifelong friend who is a woodturner. His inspiration and the confidence he showed in me have been invaluable. My career took some twists from starting as a Nuclear Reactor Operator then moving into writing math models for nuclear power plants and then finally, and here is the twist, working as a financial planning consultant for over 20 years.

My work is mainly simple wood creations such as cutting and charcuterie boards, serving trays, tea light holders and other small household items. While I have redone kitchen cabinet drawers with all dovetail joinery, made 3 panel doors for closets and other “bigger” projects, most projects are smaller and personal.

My intention in my work is to use natural products since many of my pieces will have food contact. The wood projects I make are from domestic and imported hardwoods. The woods are sourced from right in the USA and as far away as Africa, England, South America and other countries. There are no stains or dyes used on my projects that may have food contact. The glues are all food safe. The finish on my products is all natural and is made by me using mineral oil, beeswax and carnauba wax so you never have to worry about what your food is resting on.
