Engage with works of art and archaeological artifacts through talks led by archaeologists, curators, and artists. Each speaker will provide a unique, personal perspective on their role as it relates to the topics addressed in the two special exhibits, From the Ground Up and Mine Moonlight: Artists Working in Philadelphia’s River Wards, in the Museum of American Glass.
Astrid Bowlby, Mine Moonlight: Artists Working in Philadelphia’s Riverwards, Exhibiting Artist
Astrid Bowlby has noted that, “Being an artist often feels like performing an archaeological dig on the sedimentation of one’s self while also adding to that sedimentation.” During her gallery talk, Astrid will discuss her current work and studio practice.
Astrid earned her MFA in sculpture from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She has been living and working in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA for twenty years.
