I approach my ceramic work from a place of grounding. Not only is clay of the earth, but it is also uniquely and immediately responsive to all of my physical gestures. From colorful silkscreen prints layered over bold brushstrokes to light scratches stained with underglaze, clay picks up my every move. My current work showcases that relationship in concert with influences and inspirations, including textiles, collage, animals, and our very own backyard.
Collingswood-based ceramic artist Evelyn Taylor Bonner has worked with clay for over 35 years. She earned a BFA in Studio Arts/Ceramics and Art Education from Syracuse University. She spent 4 years as a tile production ceramist at the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works in Doylestown. After a 20-year career in arts marketing at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Evelyn’s ceramic art is currently her full-time job. Evelyn’s business features seasonal craft shows such as Clover Market, the Tile Works Tile Festival, and Grounds for Sculpture, plus teaching two pottery classes at the Perkins Center for the Arts.
