Connor Bagen
Connor is a glass artist and designer from West Orange, New Jersey. He has always appreciated glass art and was intrigued by the finesse and skill required to work glass. While studying industrial design, he had an opportunity to take a glassblowing course and immediately fell in love with the challenging but rewarding process of working with glass. To further his glass knowledge, he attended Salem Community College and graduated from their dual major program, receiving an AFA in Glass Art and an AAS in Scientific Glass Technology. Connor began glassblowing in 2017 and has been teaching and working at various glass studios since.
Connor’s dedication to glassblowing is driven by the meditative state of mind that the process instills. He uses glass for its optical qualities, taking advantage of the fact that it can be both transparent and opaque. The unique characteristics of glass, such as its elasticity and brittleness, make it a fascinating material. Connor focuses mainly on technical glassblowing and making art that serves a purpose.
