NEW GALLERY EXHIBIT AND SALE

“LIGHTEN UP! ARTISTS’ INTERPRETATIONS OF THE UBIQUITOUS LAMP”

MILLVILLE, NJ – The new exhibit and sale in The Gallery of Fine Craft, “Lighten Up! Artists’ Interpretations of the Ubiquitous Lamp,” opens August 29 and continues through October 4.

The show’s curators, artists Michelle Post and Dave Carrow, are Millville, NJ residents. Twenty artists are participating. The only stipulation given to the artists when making their lamps was that it had a cord, could plug into a wall outlet and light up.

Post and Carrow explain, “As the world around us becomes more and more anxious and full of uncertainties, we find ourselves thrust into a darkness where our future seems more hopeless every day. Rising to the challenge of bursting through and penetrating this darkness come artists whose wit and imagination show us not to take life too seriously. With laughter comes healing, and with illumination comes peace.”

The participating artists are: Hank Adams, Dave Cann and Constance Bennett, Dave Carrow, Alden Cole, David Dempewolf and Yuka Yokoyama, Fred Kramer, Renee Kumar, Max Lefko-Everett, Chikako Ogawa, Ruthann Perry, Joanna Platt, Michelle Post, Wayne Russell, Eric Schultz, Karen Titus Smith, Barney Stone, Judy Tobie, Megan Uhaze, Ted Warschal, and Sally Willowbee.

The opening reception is September 13 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in The Gallery of Fine Craft. Light refreshments will be available. No admission ticket is required to attend the reception or shop in the other WheatonArts museum stores.
