Social Media Marketing Internship

3 Month Internship Dates: September-December 2018, February-April 2019, June-August 2019,
(Each session will have a special project focus.)

Hours: 10-15 hours/week; flexible between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (Occasional weekend event participation as requested)

Reports to: Marketing Operations and Technology Director

Description: WheatonArts is a non-profit arts organization whose mission is to engage artists and audiences in an evolving exploration of creativity. WheatonArts presently uses online applications to connect constituents including our websites, email campaigns and existing social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, and Instagram. WheatonArts is developing a cohesive online community. We have created an internship opportunity for a dynamic Social and New Media Marketing Intern to join our marketing team. The intern will assist with cutting-edge technology initiatives and report directly to the Technology and Special Projects Manager.


  • Gain experience consulting with an experienced nonprofit marketing team

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist with an active online community with social networking, photo and video websites
  • Assist in online applications to engage a global audience
  • Participate in other technology related activities based on your skills and interests. (i.e.: photo and video editing)
  • Assist with database maintenance
  • Assist with distribution of marketing materials (travel expenses will be covered when applicable)


  • Inventive and energy-driven, highly reliable
  • Comfortable and professional in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment; flexible
  • Minimum 1 year of college completed
  • Knowledge and experience with Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator and WordPress a plus
  • Internet & technical skills
  • Ability to build relationships within a team
