As an avid quilter for the past 45 years, Phyllis Manley finds warmth and comfort in quilting. The quilts that she creates become part of her, and she loves to give them away to her friends and family who cherish the care and love that went into them. In order to create such treasure and to enhance her judging skills, she constantly pushes herself to stay on the cutting edge of new and innovative techniques. In addition, she likes to design original pieces and recently completed a series of quilts of her own creation which incorporates reverse applique on a large scale using unusual colors and design.
As Phyllis is finding herself with more free time at home, she enjoys traveling and instilling in others her passion for quilting through judging and teaching. Most importantly, however, the extra time provides her with the opportunity to enhance her own skills by continuing to make her own quilts, her foremost passion. Her quilts have won many ribbons not only locally but nationally.
Phyllis has been certified for 10 years as a National Association of Certified Quilt Judges, and in 2008 became qualified to judge Masterpiece Quilts.
