WheatonArts Volunteers

Jan Olivio

I love the fact that Art and History flourish locally in South Jersey and it’s lucky for me personally as well. As a practicing artist I was always drawn to WheatonArts, in Millville, NJ, so much so that in 1992 I began volunteering. This consisted of narrating three live glass blowing show, explaining the procedure of glass blowing and teaching the rich history of this amazing art and craft.

As an art educator from nearby Vineland, I never dreamed I would be able to learn this craft for myself. When I became a Vineland High School teacher, I exposed my students to as much glass art and volunteerism as possible. Upon retirement I continue to volunteer and I also do extended workshops teaching crafts at WheatonArts.

After developing my skills of paperweight making, I created a very popular solid glass business card holder paperweight that includes my own unique style. These business card holders are now available at The Gallery of Fine Craft at WheatonArts.
