I just retired after teaching art for 31 years in the public school systems of Millville, Woodstown and Adelaide, South Australia. Now I can paint, blow glass, garden, read and help my parents and grand children. Life is great!
I have been volunteering in the Glassfactory for the last 14 years. I narrate the 11:00, 1:30 and 3:30 shows there on Saturdays. When the glassblowers go to lunch between 12:00 and 1:00, I get the bench and make glass pieces to please and challenge myself. It is so much fun.
I love people and I love glass. There are so many nice people working and visiting the Village. Being exposed the creativity of the glass artists has enriched my life tremendously.

My background is Work-Print, but I have always been a people person, interested in whatever group I was involved with to see things from different points of view. Somewhere I found Wheaton Village and became a "Friend of the Village." I still remember the time I emailed the Village a suggestion that some one be available to guide people through the village. Doris Abeling emailed back and asked me when would I be starting. That was over 5 years ago.
I have taken full advantage of the resources of the Village. I have taken the Docent classes in the Museum and have done the narrations for the demos in the glass studio. While watching the artists at work, I learned a lot about the movement of hot glass and knew I wanted a part of it. I took a course at Salem Community College in lamp working and have volunteered in the Crafts Studio for two years. It’s fun to explain to the visitors as I work making beads. I have enjoyed dealing with the public and am comfortable knowing that if I don't have an answer some one will help out.

October)
I hold a Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision. My interests
include tennis, reading, and being a lecture "Junkie, in particular,
anything that has to do with the arts (music, ballet, opera, books, theater,
etc). I volunteer at the Museum of American Glass, orienting visitors as
they arrive. I also help at the desk with various projects. I did volunteer
as a Docent for a few years, but being away for the winter has made me no
longer comfortable with that part of the job. I love interacting with the
visitors while keeping abreast of new things happening in the Art Glass
industry. I really love the feel of the old glass on display.

By profession, I am a teacher of students with learning difficulties, although I am now retired. My interests include gardening, stitching, reading, caring for my pets, and of course GLASS ; researching, learning, reading, collecting, and just plain admiring!!
At the Village, I have worked in the library located in the Museum, as well as a variety of tasks at special events. I have earned my Docent credentials, but to date, I have not led a tour.
I enjoy volunteering at Wheaton Village most of all because I LOVE the people working there. I don't see or talk to everyone nearly often enough, but I value their enthusiasm, their laughter, and their friendship. I also love the history, the grounds (so beautiful!) and, of course, the GLASS!

I am a retired R.N., who now is a fibre artist with a sheep farm and president of Third Star Fibre Artists Guild.
I volunteer in the Museum of American Glass. Wheaton Village is a beautiful place to be and all the people here are friendly. I am continually learning all aspects of glass.
