At WheatonArts, we value the creative process, and the many ways in which engagement with the arts introduces learning skills and strengthens basic classroom curriculum goals.
Arts and crafts classes open a world of creative possibilities for children of all ages. WheatonArts offers hands-on experiences for children in Grades 3 to 6. All grades can visit and learn about the 1876 Centre Grove Schoolhouse and tour the internationally-known Museum of American Glass where they’ll discover the science, industry, art and magic of glassmaking from colonial times to the present.
From April through December, the Artist Studios offer demonstrations and opportunities for students to meet informally with resident artists. As artists share their craft, they discuss materials and the science, history and social forces that have shaped both art and culture. They answer wide-ranging questions as wood, clay and molten glass are transformed before students’ eyes.
Whether a toddler or a teen, our scenic grounds offer the magic of nature, from the sands that form a major part of glass to the wide variety of trees and other plant life that help teach lessons in science and nature.
All these experiences are subject to staffing and scheduling considerations. Please call 856-825-6800, ext. 109, for availability.
