EMANATION: ART + PROCESS

A year-long invitational residency and exhibition program at WheatonArts.

Emanation: Art + Process featured ten new installations by renowned contemporary artists. With works created in response to, and conjunction with the WheatonArts Glass Studio and the Museum of American Glass, Emanation highlighted Wheaton’s unique connection between the site of creation and the site of display.

Offering artist residencies and atelier services, WheatonArts hosted participating artists Mark Dion, Paula Hayes, Carolyn Healy and John Phillips, Donald Lipski, Virgil Marti, Michael Oatman, Judy Pfaff, Jocelyne Prince, Rob Wynne, and Mark Zirpel between June 2014 and June 2015 for the Emanation project. Each artist shared their process and creative energy, resulting in a one-of-a-kind exhibit that reflects the importance of place and artists’ ability to capture the essence of art at work.

In addition to guided tours of the exhibit, family-oriented activities that emphasize the creative process were available. The Emanation project served to forward Wheaton’s strategic goal to enhance programs and exhibits through a deepened level of collaboration and interactivity with artists while providing benefit to the greater public.

The exhibition ended January 4, 2016.
