WHEATONARTS RECEIVES $10,000 GRANT FROM THE HORIZON FOUNDATION FOR NEW JERSEY
MILLVILLE, NJ – Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center has received a grant in the
amount of $10,000 from The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey. The grant supports the
Glasstown Collective Education Program which includes the GrowCreative! Preschool Program, the
Glasstown Partnership and the Juvenile Justice Studio Partnership.
■ The “GrowCreative! Pre-School
Program,” is a partnership with the Millville Child and Family Center,
Millville's city-wide preschool serving over 650 three- and four-year olds.
WheatonArts has offered year-round free access and special programs to the
entire school community, including students, teachers and their respective
families.
■ The “Glasstown Partnership,” a program for 70 Millville 4th graders,
includes hands-on glassmaking experiences and interactive museum programming.
In addition, all 4th grade classes in Millville make special class visits at no
charge. The program is now in its 15th year.
■ The “Juvenile Justice Partnership” is
an intensive program of training and hands-on experience that serves up teens
currently under the supervision of NJ Juvenile Justice Commission. Activities
have ranged from creating glass paperweights to casting self-portraits
with hot glass and other art and design activities.

Board of Directors of The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, recently announced
the Foundation's first round of grants to 25 organizations. "As we begin
our seventh year
of operation, The Horizon Foundation
for New Jersey is proud to congratulate these organizations for their everyday
accomplishments to improve the lives of people living in our communities
throughout New Jersey," said Marino.
The Horizon Foundation for New
Jersey, created by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, supports
charitable organizations that promote health and other cultural and arts

WheatonArts is a major community
resource serving southern New Jersey. In addition to ongoing educational
programs, exhibitions, workshops, performances and artist residencies, several
multi-day cultural events and arts festivals are presented annually. WheatonArts
is recognized by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts as a Major Arts Organization, “given in
recognition of the organizations’ solid history of artistic excellence,
substantial programming, and broad public service.” This honor also notes that
the Center “stands among a group of organizations across our state that
contributes vitally to the quality of life in New Jersey.”
