THE GALLERY OF FINE CRAFT AT WHEATONARTS PRESENTS “PAUL STANKARD AND STANKARD STUDIO EXHIBITion”

MILLVILLE, NJ – The “Paul Stankard and Stankard Studio Exhibition” will open in The Gallery of Fine Craft at WheatonArts on April 25 and continue through May 31.

Paul Stankard celebrates a 37 year association with Wheaton Arts with this exhibition of his new work. Stankard is widely recognized and respected as one of the world’s master glass artists for his floral motifs. These floral motifs are expressed in his most current Orb and Cloistered forms.

A pioneer in the studio glass movement, Stankard’s career has spanned more than four decades. In addition to unveiling his most recent work, the exhibit features Stankard’s early work from the 1970s and 1980s. The sale of these beautiful simplistic early floral paperweight designs, directly from Paul’s own archives, offers a rare opportunity to collectors.

In addition, the work of Stankard Studio will be exhibited. Stankard Studio is comprised of Stankard’s three daughters, Katherine Stankard Campbell, Pauline Stankard Iacovino and Christine Stankard Kressley. Stankard Studio continues the legacy of glass as well as building on the South Jersey glass tradition with a new generation of artists.

Stankard will demonstrate his flameworking techniques in the Glass Studio at WheatonArts on May 9 at 1:30 p.m. The demonstration is included in the price of admission. The opening reception for the exhibit follows at 4 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available.

Stankard maintains an active career in his Mantua (Gloucester County), NJ studio, while teaching at institutions such as Penland School of Crafts, The Studio at The Corning Museum of Glass and Urban Glass. He also serves as an adjunct instructor and artist-in-residence at Salem Community College in Carneys Point, NJ.

The Gallery of Fine Craft and the other WheatonArts museum stores are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is free to shop and stroll at WheatonArts except during outdoor special events.
