“FORM IN MOTION ii” – NEW EXHIBIT IN THE GALLERY OF FINE CRAFT AT WHEATONARTS FEATURES “lIFETILES SERIES” BY RUFUS BUTLER SEDER

MILLVILLE, NJ – The Gallery of Fine Craft at WheatonArts presents, “Form In Motion II,” opening August 15 and continuing through October 4. The exhibit features mobiles, jewelry and glass sculptures that depict motion. The featured artist is Rufus Butler Seder and his “Lifetile Series.”

By combining hundreds of Lifetiles, Seder is able to create large-scale "Movies for the Wall" - optical murals that appear to come to life, move and change when the observer travels by them. Lifetiles murals contain no moving parts. The motion is in the eye of the beholder. Since 1990 he has designed, fabricated and installed dozens of Lifetile works in museums, aquariums and other public places around the world. The medium is maintenance-free and lends itself to almost any subject or location, outdoors or in. No special lighting is required. These lens-ribbed glass tiles were originated by Seder and he is the only artist in the world working in the Lifetiles medium.

Visitors can meet Seder and attend a book signing event on Saturday, August 15, from 1 p.m. to

3 p.m. He will discuss the process behind his work and sign copies of the bestselling children’s books, Gallop! and Swing! Published in 2007, Gallop! introduced the technology called “Scanimation.” The book was a #1 bestseller on the New York Times children’s book list. Each book cost $12.95 and can be ordered in the Gallery of Fine Craft.

The Gallery of Fine Craft features one-of-a-kind contemporary sculpture and fine crafts in glass, ceramics, wood, metal, textile and mixed media plus a broad selection of glass jewelry. The exhibit space changes four to six times a year with shows by established and emerging artists and studios. It is dedicated to excellence in the development of studio glass art and regional craft and is a well-known destination for collectors, artists and students. A diverse range of select sculptural pieces from past exhibits and a variety of decorative pieces with an emphasis on works in glass can be seen in The Gallery’s front rooms.
