weekend at wheatonarts
MILLVILLE, NJ – Marble Weekend at WheatonArts, June
21 and 22, is an opportunity for marble collectors, dealers, artists and
visitors to come together in a unique studio setting. A wide selection of
handmade and machine-made antique marbles, contemporary marbles and marble
related memorabilia will be available for sale. Throughout the weekend,
nationally known marble artists will demonstrate their skills at the tank and
at the torch in the Glass Studio and at the torch under a tent located outside
the Glass Studio.
This year’s
featured artist is Drew Fritts. His works are included in museums and private
collections around the world and several books. He produces an extensive array
of his own marble designs using a combination of furnace and torchwork techniques.
He states, “I’m
thankful to be blessed with talent and perseverance to produce my works, and
extremely humbled by their reception in the collector community. The dynamic
nature of the medium - molten glass, the almost endless color palette, and the
ever-allusive shape - the sphere, make this a wonderful art form. It lends
itself to both experimentation and chance, but at the same time requires
extraordinary skill and control. Each piece is a challenge - a new adventure;
everyone is an individual work of art.” Fritts will demonstrate for registered Marble
Weekend guests Friday evening, June 20.
In
addition, participants from the National Marbles Tournament in Wildwood, NJ, will
be at the event on Saturday to demonstrate their skills on the marble court and
the regional Boy Scouts will be holding a “Lost Your Marbles” event on Saturday

participate.
