WHEATONARTS ECO-FAIR -
A COMMUNITY
OPEN HOUSE
MILLVILLE,
NJ –WheatonArts’ Eco-Fair:
Green Living For Your Home and Garden event on May 3, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., will
be a Community Open House that is free and open to the public. The event is
produced in partnership with the Cumberland County Improvement Authority.
A host of exhibitors
and presenters will offer visitors resources, products and real solutions about
living better, healthier lives with less environmental impact. Composters will
be available for a cost of $25.00 (retail value: $99.00) on a first-come, first
served basis due to limited quantities.
Mike McGrath,
host of the weekly, nationally syndicated public radio show, “You Bet Your Garden,” will
present “Composting Made Easy” at 12 noon in the Event Center. McGrath will
also conduct a question and answer session from 2 to 3 p.m. on the outdoor
center stage.
The Eco-Fair
features spotlight presentations by the American Vegan Society, Al & Sam’s
Canoe, Boat & Kayak Rental & Sales, New Jersey Audubon Society/Nature
Center of Cape May, Happy Valley Berry Farm, Lawns By Walt, The Nature Conservancy,
and Shaklee Products. Additional commercial organizations and businesses include
Community Acupuncture, Deppen Wood Products, Downbay Designs, Espoma, George
Reed, Nature’s Healing Gifts, Old Shep’s Honey, Old World Organics, QB Energy
Heating Solutions, Skye Flooring and WheatonArts Pottery.
Participating
non-profit organizations are Atlantic County Utilities Authority, Cumberland
County Improvement Authority, Bayshore Discovery, Cape May National Wildlife
Refuge, Citizens United, Clean Ocean Action, Family Friends Foundation, Great
Egg Harbor Watershed Association, Natural Lands Trust – Peek Preserve, Rutgers
University Master Gardeners Program, Slick/Outdoor Club of South Jersey and
Tuckerton Seaport.
Children’s
activities schedule: “Earth Science Circus” presented by the Grand Falloons at
11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the outdoor center stage; eco-friendly crafts at 10:30
a.m. and 2:30 p.m.; and the recycling magic of Bill Kerwood at 1:30 p.m. and
3:30 p.m.
The event
features door prizes and live music by the group, Package Goods Orchestra, from
Galloway Township, NJ, from 12 noon to 3:30 p.m. Food and refreshments will be
available for purchase.
WheatonArts
is home to the Museum of American Glass, the Creative Glass Center of America
International Fellowship Program, the Down Jersey Folklife Center, hot glass
studio, several traditional craft studios, and museum stores. In addition to
daily glass blowing and craft demonstrations, WheatonArts features special
exhibitions, programs, workshops, performances and several weekend festivals
throughout the year.
