WHEATONARTS ANNOUNCES UPCOMING PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES

MILLVILLE, NJ WheatonArts will present a variety of special activities and programs for visitors during the next few months. They include:

Through March 4 - “Curator’s Choice” in the Museum of American Glass. A selection of pieces acquired for the collection in 2006 can be viewed in the museum’s Special Exhibition Gallery. An admission ticket is required.

  February 9 - Creative Glass Center of America Fellows Hot Glass Demonstrations at 7 p.m. in the Glass Studio. The current Fellows, Stine Bidstrup from Denmark, Elaine Miles from Australia, Atsuko Tajima from Japan and Philadelphia, PA, and Thaddeus Wolfe from New York, NY, demonstrate their glassmaking techniques. No admission ticket is required. Light refreshments offered.

February 10 - Chocolate Dipping and Decorating in the General Store. Noon to 4 p.m. Dip assorted sweet treats such as marshmallows, cookies and pretzels into melted chocolate. Complimentary hot chocolate. Asher’s chocolate available for sampling. All ages welcome. No admission ticket required.    

February 10 - Make Your Own Valentine in the Brownstone Emporium. Noon to 4 p.m. Origami papers, glue, lace papers and others supplies will be available. All ages welcome. Free coffee offered to visitors courtesy of Melitta. No admission ticket required.         

March 17 - Down Jersey Folklife Center Class. “Hearts-A-Ticking Pin” with Merry May. 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Call 856-825-6800, extension 131 or 132, to reserve space. Fee.         

March 17 - Down Jersey Folklife Center Class. “Wool Penny Rug” with Merry May. Noon to 6 p.m. Call 856-825-6800, extension 131 or 132, to reserve space. Fee.         

March 24 - Bead Necklace 101 in the Gallery of Fine Craft. 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Bring your own beads. The $10.00 fee includes jewelry findings. Ages 16 and up. Call to reserve space. 12 people maximum. No admission ticket required.         

April 1 - Easter Egg Hunt. Outdoors. Under three years of age at 10:30 a.m. Ages four to eight years of age at 11:30 a.m. No admission ticket required.

The Museum of American Glass, Down Jersey Folklife Center, Glass Studio in the T. C. Wheaton Glass Factory, and museum stores are included with the price of admission. Admission in January, February and March: $9.00 Adults, $8.00 Senior Citizens, and $6.00 Students. Children five and under are free.
