INTERNATIONAL GALLERIES, ARTISTS,
CURATORS, AND COLLECTORS GATHER
FOR
GLASSWEEKEND ‘07 AT WHEATONARTS

MILLVILLE, NJ - The Creative Glass Center of America (CGCA) and the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass (AACG) present, GlassWeekend ‘07, July 13, 14 and 15. Since 1985, GlassWeekend, a biennial event, has brought together the world’s leading artists, collectors, galleries, and museum curators for a three-day weekend of exhibitions, lectures, hands-on glassmaking, artists’ demonstrations, and social events.

Guest artists are Laura Donefer from Canada and Sabrina Knowles and Jenny Pohlman from Seattle, WA. The guest speaker is Dan Klein of Dan Klein Associates located in London, England. Klein, a world authority on contemporary glass, has written several books and lectured extensively.

The event is sponsored by Fireman's Fund and Frank Crystal and Company. Additional support provided by a Cooperative Marketing Grant from the New Jersey Commerce and Economic Growth Commission, Office of Travel and Tourism and American Style Magazine.
 
The proceeds of GlassWeekend benefit the CGCA Fellowship Program, providing working fellowships to twelve individual artists from around the world each year. Additionally, as the event’s co-presenter, the AACG dedicates portions of the proceeds to help fund Museum exhibitions that further the development and appreciation of art made from glass.

Demonstrations take place over the weekend on a rotating schedule in the Glass Studio. A private demonstration for GlassWeekend registrants is scheduled for Sunday morning. Past guest artists include: Dale Chihuly, Lino Tagliapietra, Bertil Vallien, Stephen Powell, Richard Marquis, Martin Blank, Einar and Jamex de la Torre, Therman Statom, Kjell Engman, Richard Jolley, Dante Marioni, and Janusz Pozniak.   

Twenty internationally respected art galleries show the most current work of over 200 professional artists working in glass today. It is considered one of the most extensive presentations of museum quality glass vessels and sculpture assembled in one location.

Weekend registrants benefit from an extensive programming schedule. The weekend begins with a preview reception in the Event Center on Friday evening, continues with a reception and dinner in the Museum of American Glass Saturday evening, and culminates with a private demonstration on Sunday morning by the guest artists. Throughout the three-day event participants have the option of attending slide presentations from the guest artists and CGCA Fellowship artists; panels and breakout sessions with contemporary glass artists, museum curators, gallery owners and collectors; and participate in a FunRaising auction that directly benefits the CGCA Fellowship Program and the AACG’s educational efforts. For day visitors WheatonArts and the glass studio demonstrations are included in the price of admission: $10.00 Adults, $9.00 Senior Adults, and $7.00 Students. There is an additional charge of $6.00 per person to visit the galleries. Children five and under are free.
