THE FESTIVAL OF FINE CRAFT AT WHEATONARTS CELEBRATES THE BEST OF AMERICAN CRAFT

MILLVILLE, NJ - Artists from across the country assemble to express their shared enthusiasm for American craft at the Festival of Fine Craft at Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center, October 6 – 7.

Over 140 artists set up booths in the Event Center, outdoors in a large tent and throughout the wooded grounds. Visitors browse a wide array of studio art glass, stained glass objects, creative jewelry designs, unusual metal sculptures, innovative wearables and accessories, intricate baskets, sculptural and functional clay pieces, woodcarvings and turned vessels, handcrafted furniture, and two-dimensional art and photography.

Featured outdoor artist demonstrations are: Pauletta Berger, Handwovens By Pauletta (weaving), Vineland, NJ; Robert Broschart (woodturning), Petersburg, NJ; Patricia Kehoe Devries (wheat weaving), Germansville, PA; Allan Feinberg, Art In Coin (coin jewelry), Highland Park, NJ; David Field, Field Musical Instruments (wood), West Collingswood, NJ; Nolly Gelsinger, Nolly's Folly (flameworked glass beads), Westminster, MD; Mary May, Mary May Basektmaking, Forked River, NJ; Doug Starry, Starry's Woodshop (chair caning), Gettysburg, PA; and Alex Alessi and Carmel Verrastro, Alessi & Verrastro Painted Silk (painting on silk), Leeds Point, NJ.     

Kettle corn, barbeque, seafood and grilled items will be offered in the food and refreshment area each day.

A host of family activities will be offered during the Festival. They include: Create A Scarecrow With Your Family; Make It and Take It (for young children); Weave A Beginner Basket (nominal fee applies); Create A Mural (children of all ages); Design A Ceramic Tile; Facepainting; and Blow A Glass Bubble with the guidance of WheatonArts’ Glass Studio artists. A strolling magician and musical groups will entertain visitors throughout the day.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The event is included in the price of admission to WheatonArts. Admission is $10.00 Adults, $9.00 Senior Adults and $7.00 Students. Children five and under are free. Festival Special: Ticket good for both days with “Tomorrow Pass” which is available upon request. Free parking.
