KAREN ADAMS NAMED WHEATON VILLAGE
DIRECTOR OF SALES

MILLVILLE, NJKaren Adams has been named Director of Sales for Wheaton Village. In this position, Adams will promote, package and sell Wheaton Village as a destination to the group tour market. She will work with tour operators, group tour leaders, affinity groups such as the Red Hat Society, corporations and other organizations, and will create tour packages to include restaurants, hotels, and other cultural destinations in the region.

Adams joins Wheaton Village with over 20 years of experience in the group travel industry. She began her career at Caesars in Atlantic City in the early 1980s and has been very active in the Hospitality/Tourism industry since that time. She has experience in hotels, airlines and wholesaler companies and operated her own tour company, Absolutely Jersey, for several years. Adams is on the board of the Atlantic City Tourism Council and serves as vice-president of the Atlantic City Chapter of SKAL, an international organization for travel professionals. She has also been a speaker at the New Jersey Governor's Conference on Tourism.

Susan Gogan, Wheaton Village president, explains, “Our goal is to generate marketing partnerships and sell tour packages in order to generate more cultural tourism to this area. This is good news to businesses and other organizations. It gives example not only to our pride in Wheaton Village’s value as a destination, but also our respect for the collective impact of cultural resources within our entire region.”

This Cultural Tourism initiative has received support from the New Jersey Commerce, Economic Growth and Tourism Commission /Cooperative Marketing Sponsorship Program and the New Jersey Cultural Trust. Both grants will fund portions of expenses related to developing group tour marketing packages; promoting South Jersey cultural attractions at group tour conferences throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, and an interactive CD featuring photographs and visitor information relating to South Jersey’s attractions, environmental resources and travel services.
