Two New Exhibitions Open This Summer

TWO NEW EXHIBITIONS
OPEN THIS SUMMER
AT WHEATON
VILLAGE
The Gallery of Fine Craft’s exhibition
and sale of kiln glass works compliments the Museum of American Glass’ current
exhibition, "Particle Theories: International Pâte de Verre and Other Cast
Glass Granulations." Participating artists include Tina Aufiero, Anna
Boothe, Wendy Saxon Brown, Alicia Lomné, Thomas McPhee, Pauline Stankard
Iacovino, and Erika Tada. This show is a follow up of the Gallery’s current
exhibition, “The Fellows: Cast Glass,” and includes work by past Creative
Glass Center of America Fellows Junichiro Baba, Megumi Esaki, Lucartha
Kohler and Stephen Paul Day.
“The Best of Fenton”
showcases over 80 pieces of Fenton Art Glass from the museum’s permanent
collection and pieces on loan from private collectors. Located in the
Special Exhibition Gallery, the show will be divided into 12 categories
including iridescent, heat sensitive, early art, opaque colors, lamps,
decorated, 1976, hobnail, and crests.
The Gallery features fine American
crafts and one-of-a-kind contemporary works in all media. The Museum of American Glass
has the most comprehensive collection of American glass in the country with
over 6,500 pieces on display. Wheaton Village is open Tuesday through
Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., through December 31. Open Labor Day and Columbus
Day. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
General admission:
Adults $10.00, Seniors $9.00 and Students $7.00. Children five and under
are free. Admission to The Gallery of Fine Craft and the other museum
stores is free except during outdoor special events. In addition, the Glass
Studio in the T. C. Wheaton Glass Factory, Ceramics Studio, Woodworking
Studio, Flameworking Studio, and Down Jersey Folklife Center are included
with the price of admission.
