CRAFT AT WHEATON VILLAGE
CELEBRATES THE BEST OF AMERICAN
CRAFT
MILLVILLE, NJ
- The Festival of
Fine Craft at Wheaton Village, October 1 – 2, celebrates the best of
American craft. Over 160 juried artists from Maine to Florida will present a
broad assortment of traditional and contemporary works.
The event takes
place in the Village’s Event Center, outdoors in a large tent and throughout
the wooded grounds. Visitors will see displays of studio art glass, stained
glass objects, creative jewelry designs, unusual metal sculptures,
innovative wearables and accessories, intricate baskets, sculptural and
functional clay pieces, woodcarvings and turned vessels, handcrafted
furniture, photography, and watercolors.
The food and refreshment area features a variety of vendors. Among the specialties are kettle corn, barbeque, Thai, seafood, gourmet coffee and salads, vegetarian dishes, ice cream and crepes.
Families can
participate in several hands-on activities. They include: Create A Scarecrow
With Your Family; Clay Sculpture (children of all ages); Jewelry and Hats
(for very young children); Weave A Beginner Basket (nominal fee applies);
Create A Mural (children of all ages); and Paint On Glass in the Stained
Glass Studio (adults and older children/nominal fee applies). Facepainting
will be available also.
In addition, Pete Waldman, a glass artist in residence, will provide a venue for an entertaining and educational interaction with children of all ages in the Glass Studio both days. He will create a circus-like atmosphere to illustrate and educate the phenomena of hot glass. Waldman has extensive experience performing with children in and around New York, NY, over the past 15 years.
Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission is
$10.00 Adults, $9.00 Senior Citizens and $7.00 Students. Children 12 under
are free for this event only. Festival Special: Ticket good for both days
with “Tomorrow Pass” which is available upon request. All of the Wheaton
Village attractions are included with the price of admission. Free parking.
