“CURATOR’S
CHOICE” EXHIBIT IN MUSEUM OF AMERICAN GLASS FEATURES SPECIAL
ACQUISITIONS FROM 2004
MILLVILLE, NJ - The “Curator’s Choice” exhibit in the Museum of American Glass at Wheaton Village, January 15 to March 6, features pieces that were acquired by the museum in the year 2004. The exhibition illustrates the diverse objects the museum acquires during a year. It also reveals the three ways the museum collects through gifts, purchases and loans.
Selected objects can be seen in 12 exhibit cases in the museum’s Special Exhibition Gallery. Among the pieces is the “Day of the Dead Down Jersey” Sculpture, created by 2004 Creative Glass Center of America Fellows, Einar and Jamex de la Torre, in the Glass Studio during the Mexican Fiesta weekend in October. Recent gifts, such as four covered battleship dishes, circa 1898, and an Umbrella Vase, Blackberry Pattern, Consolidated Lamp & Glass Co., Coropolis, PA, 1929, will also be included in the exhibit.
Hours: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in January, February and March. Reduced admission rates in effect: $9.00 Adults, $8.00 Senior Citizens and $6.00 Students. Children five and under are free. The Crafts Studios are closed and the train is not in operation during these three months only. The Village resumes a six-day operating schedule on April 1.
