What
a wonderful way to begin the month of May. "Thank You," to all
who came out this past weekend for this year's Eco Fair and Open House.
The weather was perfect and we really enjoyed seeing familiar faces and
new ones too. We hope you had an enjoyable visit and look forward to
seeing you again soon. This free community event is growing in
activities, participation and excitement each year.
WheatonArts
is abuzz with the signs of spring. The flowers and trees are in bloom,
the geese are nesting and we have seen our first School Tours of the
year. With spring comes the arrival of new merchandise in the Museum
Stores. The Paperweight Shop and The Gallery staff are excited to
unpack the new arrivals each day and I would like to share a selection
of our favorites with you.

New
Merchandise in The Gallery of Fine Craft
Spring is a
season full of Celebrations and The Gallery is a perfect place to shop
for those
special and unique, one-of-a-kind gifts. Mother's Day
is this Sunday, May 9th and we are excited to introduce a new Jewelry
Line to The Gallery.
Sea of Glass Studio is the work of artists
Trudi
and Eric Cooper of Michigan. Their Fancy Beaded dichroic jewelry
necklaces and bracelets are accented with freshwater pearls,
semi-precious stones and sterling silver. They also have a range of
earrings, from dazzling dangles and classy clip-ons to their popular
Dichroic Dots that retail for just $15.00 a pair. Not only is the
jewelry beautiful it also carries a "Green" message. The thin sheets of
glass Trudi and Eric use to make their jewelry are 80% recycled glass.
And the electricity used to make their jewelry is generated by wind.
Please stop in The Gallery to see the full range of vibrant colors.
Speaking
of "
Green" glass, The Gallery is also happy to announce the
arrival of a new line of functional drink ware.
The Green Glass
Company of Weston, MI, began

in 1992 and has grown into the "largest
producer of reclaimed glassware in the world". The Green Glass Company
takes reclaimed and recycled glass wine bottles and gives them a new
life by turning them into functional tumblers, goblets and bud vases.
Visit The Gallery to view the range of colors and styles. Also on
display are reclaimed beer bottle glasses by
Max Leftko-Everett,
WheatonArts Studio Apprentice. You saw him demonstrate the
technique during Eco Fest, now purchase his recycled works for yourself
or as a gift.
Don't forget Dad! With Father's
Day just around the corner, Dad may enjoy receiving a "Six Pack" of
reclaimed beer bottle glasses. He may also enjoy the new line of hand
carved wooden decoys from The Painted Bird. They are the work of
renowned wildlife carver Richard A. Morgan of Warren, CT. Richard
creates a line of "fine quality shorebird decoys patterned after
authentic Early American hunting decoys". His work in The Gallery
includes: Egrets, a Barn Owl, a Woodpecker, Sandpipers and a Rainbow
Trout. Each piece is signed by the artist and comes with an artist
card.
I have enjoyed sharing the exciting new
