CELEBRATING CONNECTIONS:
Contemporary Glass Art By Mid-Atlantic Artists

April 7, 2007 through January 6, 2008

The Mid-Atlantic region, encompassing the states of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, is home to artists, academic institutions and centers working in glass.

The region’s colleges and universities offering glass programs include: Alfred University School of Art & Design, Alfred, NY; Bucks County Community College, Newtown, PA; Georgian Court College, Lakewood, NJ; Hartwick College, Oneonta, NY; Longwood University, Farmville, VA; Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY; Salem Community College Glass Center, Carneys Point, NJ; Salisbury University Glass Program, Salisbury, MD; Tyler School of Art, Elkins Park, PA; University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA; Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA. These institutions were some of the first glass programs in the country where artists could learn the art of glassmaking.
Glass centers in Brooklyn and Corning, NY, Millville, NJ, and Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, PA give artists a place to learn and to create their own work.

This exhibition celebrates artists living in the region and recognizes the connections between instructors and students, established artists and emerging artists, and the medium of glass.
