Engage with works of art and archaeological artifacts through talks led by archaeologists, curators, and artists. Each speaker will provide a unique, personal perspective on their role as it relates to the topics addressed in the two special exhibits, From the Ground Up and Mine Moonlight: Artists Working in Philadelphia’s River Wards, in the Museum of American Glass.

Guest Speaker: Andrea Marquis, Mine Moonlight: Artists Working in Philadelphia’s Riverwards, Exhibiting Artist

Join us as we welcome Andrea Marquis to the Museum of American Glass where she will discuss her work on display in the exhibition, Mine Moonlight: Artists Working in Philadelphia’s Riverwards.

 

Andrea Marquis makes sculptural ceramic objects that originate from the shadows of plants, utilizing clay to materialize ephemeral forms. Marquis grew up on the North Shore of Massachusetts and lives and works in Philadelphia. She makes her sculptures in a studio at The Clay Studio as Artist in Residence and teaches at the Community College of Philadelphia and Rutgers University Camden. She has studied at Syracuse University, The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and The New York State College of Ceramics and was Artist in Residence at Peters Valley School of Craft in 2000 and at the Archie Bray Foundation from 2005 to 2007.
