This spectacular Washington, D.C. trip will highlight some of the nation’s best collections, the most
generous and astute collectors and your own hidden creativity in one 2 day odyssey thru the mid Atlantic region. Highlights of this trip will include:

•    A private tour of the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery with the extremely articulate Curator, Nicholas Bell. A rare experience to see behind the scenes of a national treasure.

•    A dinner at collector Laurel Mendelson’s magnificent home and collection from her Dale Chihuly Wall to her Howard Ben Tre stairwell commission.

•    A visit to the Washington Glass School….home to 3 separate SOFA artists and dozens of regional sculptors. Not only will you see one of the busiest studios in the country, but you will also be supplied with a gaffer and a torch to produce your own lampworked marble or jewelry piece. You will also see behind the scenes of Tim Tates video work.

•    A Red Hot Tomale Dinner with our own hot tomale, collector Giselle Huberman. She and her husband Ben will host a spectacular homemade Mexican meal while sharing their thoughtful and expansive collection in their unusual and beautiful duplex condo.

•    A visit to DC Glassworks, where you will be provided with a rollup blank and a gaffer and you will be able to blow any shaped glass vase you desire. Release your inner Lino! Make your gaffer earn his keep!

•    So many other related experiences. The Smithsonian American Art Gallery’s Luce Education Centers Glass Collection, The contemporary clay studios next to the glass school, Red Dirt Studio and Flux Studio. Your host and chauffer artist Tim Tate (finally something he’s qualified for!) will be happy to make any side trips you folks would enjoy!

• Or enjoy an afternoon visit to another remarkable glass collection in suburban Philadelphia.
• Dinner at a Starr restaurant. Steven Starr has become one of the premiere restauranteurs in the nation. Whether you desire a French bistro experience, an Asian feast or Pub food, a Starr restaurant is the place to go in Philly!  
• And, if you MUST do the tourist thing, we can take your photo at the Rocky statue and cheer as you run up the Art Museum steps! And, of course we can eat cheese steaks and fries if you must have traditional Philly food.

Casting Party and Dinner!

Enjoy a day casting glass with Hank Adams! Up to six people can spend the day together creating their own 'cast glass art'. Learn sand casting techniques and create your own molds under the watchful eye of Hank and his team. You do the creating and they will do the heavy lifting.

That evening you can discuss your newly discovered talents over a relaxing dinner at the home of Suzy and Larry Merighi. Dinner will include special 'edible castings' created by Keith Ragone and Terry Fox. Lunch is included. 

Date to be mutually agreed upon.
