Hideko Masuda was an instructor for 13 years at her sister's flower design school. Eventually, feeling that the work lacked "something," Hideko ventured to Europe to ponder her future direction, visiting museums everywhere. The last museum she visited was a glass museum, and it was there that she encountered the pate de verre of the Arts Nouveau.
Returning to Japan, she enrolled in the Tokyo Glass Art Institute and,
upon graduation, began her "glass creation life" in a studio in Hiroshima.
She enjoys the challenge of competitive art shows, and feels very privileged
to be an instructor to other future glass creators, whom she calls
