Stephen Paul Day began working with glass in Paris at the Beaux-Arts
Academy in 1979. His work since that time has continued to incorporate
glass. Stephen has taught worldwide at many important schools,
including 14 years at the Bild-Werk Academy in Frauenau, Germany; Pilchuck,
Stanwood WA; Penland, North Carolina; and at the Toyama Glass School in
Japan. His work can be seen at many major museums. Stephen
continues to explore different and unusual aspects of creating glass
sculpture. Through the combination of hot cast glass and kiln cast
glass, he has produced a wide range of unique works. Stephen has
received many awards and fellowships including a Wharhol Grant for work at
the Penland School of Crafts. He will be presenting work in a lecture
at the upcoming G.A.S. conference in New Orleans in 2004.
