Fellowship Program

Carina Cheung

Carina Cheung, Putnam Valley, New York

Carina's work investigates the cyclical nature of human activity, highlighting the subtleties and unseen processes of objects and people within our daily surroundings by transforming our residue into objects themselves. Her interests in how materials, languages and the mundane shape the unspoken dialogue of hand or machine made processes have lead her to study and work in glass facilities in Italy, India and China. Her wide exposure to seemingly disparate cultures and methodologies within glassblowing communities and industries has been invaluable to her studio development, and continue to influence her work.

Carina Cheung received her BFA in Glass from Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI in 2006. She is a recipient of the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Fine Arts Travel Fellowship, and is currently residing in Shandong Province, China where she is completing her program as a Fulbright scholar.
