Fukunishi Takeshi

He learned the technique about the metal-craft in Osaka University of Arts, and he graduated in 1990.

He enters the Institute for Toyama city institute of glass art that was a new school in 1991. Therefore he starts study of the glass art. He met an American glass artist (Jack wax) here. He learned of "blow glass technique" and "new technique" from Jack wax. He graduated from Toyama city institute of glass art by top results in 1993. The graduation work was chosen as the first collection of Toyama city institute of glass art. And, He worked as an assistant at Toyama city institute of glass art for four years.

In 1994, he learns Italian technique from Lino Tagliapietra in Haystack Mountain School of craft. And in 1995, he participated in Niijima International Glass Art Festival for the first time and, acted as an assistant of Benjamin Moore. In Niijima, he worked as an assistant of Benjamin Edols(2001), Massimo Nordio(2002), Dante Marioni (2004), Davide Salvadore(2005), John De Wit(2006), Bruce Chao(2007), Anthony Schafermeyer(2008), Randy Walker(2009), Mark Petrovic(2010), David Schwarz(2011) afterwards.

He adopts a new technique in existing Kiln Work after it blows, and having learned a high technique of the glass. The work which he put a part of the glass together into got a high evaluation at many exhibitions.

Besides production activity, there is much experience of the workshop to the foreign countries, too. He went to Pilchuck for the first time last year.Therefore the work which he produced got many high evaluations.

There is ability to bring about a new work by wrestling with different technique in new environment. It is one of the Japanese artists expected future activity of.
