HOLIDAY GLASS EXTRAVAGANZA


ORNAMENT CREATION - POSTPONED until December 26  WheatonArt's artists will create the winning designs. First, Second, Third and runners up prizes awarded. Each prize winner will receive their ornament.


The Museum Stores will be open for our annual YEAR END SALE, from December 26, 2009 through January 3, 2010, from 10am to 5pm (closed January 1).

Once again, any Member’s 10% discount will be increased to 20% (excluding consignment and food items) during the Holiday Sale.

Selected Stores Merchandise will be offered at 30% to 70% OFF*

* No gift wrapping or boxes with ribbon for sale items. Only one discount may be applied to each purchase.


HANUKAH UNDER GLASS: A Family Celebration

Mark your date and come join us to learn and experience the Hanukah traditions! 

PROGRAM SCHEDULE:

2:00 pm, The story of Hanukah: Legends, Traditions, Community connections.

2:30 pm, Dedication and lighting of Wheaton Hanukiyah (Menorah) made by Wheaton glas artists

2:45 pm, The  songs of Hanukah performed by the Beth Hillel-Beth Abraham Youth Choir

3:00 pm, The tastes of the traditional  Hanukah food

Hanukah Under Glass is a partnership program between the Jewish Federation of Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties and Wheaton Arts.

The purpose is to share the story of Hanukah with community members and to dedicate the Hanukiyah [Hanukah Menorah] specially created for the occasion by the WheatonArts Glass Studio artists. The program will begin with the explaination of the Hanukah story and its contemporary practice, customs and relevance, followed by the dedication and ceremonial lighting of the Hanukiyah.

Cantor Marlena Taenzer of Temple Beth Hillel Beth Abraham in Carmel, NJ, will lead the congregation's youth choir in a performance of traditional Hanukah songs, after which all present will be invited to join in a Hanukah sing-along and partake of Hanukah treats.



WORLD'S LARGEST ORNAMENT November 27, 28 & 29 - Artist Deborah Czeresko and her team will attempt once again to create the “world’s largest glass ornament” in the Glass Studio. Deborah Czeresko is pictured below on the right during last year's festivities.

MORE HOLIDAY GLASS TRADITIONS - December 5 & 6 - Deborah Czeresko and her team will continue to make holiday related glass pieces!

ORNAMENT DESIGN COMPETITION November 27 - December 16 -For the whole family! Design an ornament in the studio or at home. All of the designs will be on display in the Glass Studio.

"THE HANDCRAFTED GIFT" Exhibit & Sale - October 17 through December 24, 2009

The Gallery of Fine Craft presents unique handcrafted items in a variety of mediums for your Christmas, Hanakah and other gift giving needs. “The Handcrafted Gift” will include handcrafted ornaments, made with a variety of materials and techniques. The Gallery will also feature metal wall sculptures, leather, stained glass, jewelry, pottery and contemporary glass.

"A HANDMADE CHRISTMAS" Special Exhibition Gallery in the Museum of American Glass - November 27, 2009 - January 3, 2010 - The exhibit features twelve individual trees illustrating handmade ornaments which include cookies and marzipan, paper chains, scrap paper, cornucopias, straw, cotton, quilted, yarn, crochet, birdseed and glass.
