Staff Biographies
Renowned South Jersey woodcarver, Art Parkin, has been carving since
the 1980s and has enjoyed numerous awards and blue ribbons along the
way.
Art competed and took first place, blue ribbon
while competing in the 2003 Cumberland County Older American Art
Exhibit at the Cumberland County College. He has been a blue
ribbon winner in competition at the Annual World Show in Ocean City, Maryland.
His work has been shown in the WheatonArts Festival of Fine Craft, the Wings and Water Festival in Stone Harbor and Avalon, the Waterfowl Festival in Easton, Maryland, the Louisiana Wildfowl Festival in New Orleans and the Ocean County Decoy and Gunning Show in Tuckerton, New Jersey.
As the resident woodcarver for WheatonArts, he carves and paints life size decorative wildfowl, ducks, shorebirds and song birds using Tupelo gum wood. He loves to share his knowledge and enthusiasm of carving with visitors.
Art is very
active in community and church affairs. He is a member of the
Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts in Millville, New Jersey, and is a board
member for the Vineland Community Art Alliance, Vineland, New Jersey.
He and his wife reside in Millville. He built an addition onto their garage for use as his carving studio where you can find him most days when he’s not working at WheatonArts.
